Torrent Gas slashes PNG and CNG prices by Rs 5
TORRENT GAS on Wednesday reduced the prices of piped natural gas (PNG) used as cooking gas and compressed natural gas (CNG) used as automotive fuel by Rs 5 each for the Junagadh market as well as in six states and one territory of the Union with immediate effect.
Following the reduction, the price of PNG drops to Rs 47 per standard cubic meter (SCM) and that of PNG to Rs 87 per kilogram, effective August 17. Torrent said the price drop follows the central government’s decision to increase the allocation of natural gas to domestic PNG and CNG from 85% to 95%.
“Under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas’s revised guidelines for the allocation of gas to the domestic PNG and CNG segments of the CGD sector, the share of domestic gas in the requirement of the CGD (city gas distribution) sector has been increased to 94% of average consumption in the April quarter to June 22 from the previous allocation of 85% of average consumption in the January quarter to March 22,” Torrent Gas said in a statement.
Apart from Junagadh, Torrent Gas distributes CNG and PNG in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Telangana and Union Territory of Puducherry, cumulatively covering 34 districts having a population of over 9 crore.
