Tixati 3.12 – Neowin

Tixati is a free and easy to use BitTorrent client offering detailed views of all seed, peer and file transfer properties. Also included are powerful bandwidth mapping and throttling capabilities, and a full DHT implementation. Tixati is one of the most advanced and flexible BitTorrent clients available. And unlike many other clients, Tixati contains NO SPYWARE, NO ADVERTISING and NO GIMMICKS.

The portable version of Tixati is intended to work on a USB key or other portable medium. It stores all of its configuration files in the same folder as the executable binaries, and all file paths are stored in a format relative to the program’s executable folder.

It is important not to delete the “tixati_portable_mode.txt” file in the executables folder. It is this file that triggers the execution of Tixati in portable mode. (The executable binaries are actually the same as the standard edition binaries.)

When running the portable edition from a USB flash drive, especially one formatted as FAT16/FAT32, you may experience some lag when initially loading a new transfer. This is because initializing and allocating large files on flash media consumes more time and resources compared to a conventional hard drive.

Tixati has the following features:

• advanced bandwidth mapping of overall traffic and traffic per transfer, with separate classification of protocol and file bytes, and with separate outbound traffic classification for commerce and seeding
• Very flexible bandwidth throttling, including negotiation/seeding proportion adjustment and adjustable priority for individual transfers and peers
• bitfield graphs that show the completeness of all uploaded files, what other peers have, and the health of the entire swarm
• customizable event logging for each download and individual event logs for all peers within the swarm
• expert local file management features that allow you to move files to another partition even while downloading
• 100% compatible with the BitTorrent protocol
• Native Windows and Linux-GTK versions available

Tixati v3.12 Changelog:

• supports tixati_local_instance_check.txt in the application folder, allowing multiple standalone instances to run from separate application folders
• supports tixati_standalone_mode.txt in the application folder, which is the same as portable mode, except without restricting system folder locations to the same device
• Fixed a potential crash when loading a corrupt part data store file from the previous session
• fixed issues with status area at top of floating channel windows
• fixed edit box selection issues in chat room view
• non-custom colored single and multi-line text views in dialogs now have correct system colors, even on dark OS themes
• file and folder selection controls on Windows versions now have a font-friendly minimum size request
• fixed a rare crash in menu sizing routines on Windows versions
• paned split views now accurately save/reset splitter position when hosting a tabbed view with different minimum heights on each tab
• font-appropriate minimum sizing for rich text view and plain text views on Windows and Linux versions
• fixed mouse capture and text highlighting issues in GTK rich text view selection
• single-line and multi-line edit boxes now correctly enforce maximum byte input with multi-byte UTF8 sequences, preventing text clipping later
• minimum tree and list view size request in Windows is now proportional to font
• in GTK builds, all secondary floating windows and dialogs are now destroyed instantly when the program is closed, before saving .dat files
• fixed other minor issues with program exit in GTK main loop exit procedure that caused crashes
• Auto Shutdown now correctly performs a system shutdown on Linux and Windows builds
• some improvements to tree and list view background painting, now displaying a suitable background alternately in all places
• fixed minor issues when dropping many files on the main uploads view or categories panel at once
• pan view splitter position is now saved separately for main window chat view and floating channel window chat view
• fixed a rare crash when sorting transfers by remaining time or by BPS In/Out
• IPv6 addresses with a trailing double-comma :: are now correctly parsed in all areas of the program, no more unnecessary host resolution
• fixed issues when manually adding peers from the forwarding options tab in the peers section
• when merging duplicate transfers, web seed and peer addresses are now correctly transferred from the duplicate transfer to the original
• adding transfer by raw torrent hash-ID now works correctly from add transfer dialog, web UI and ctrl-V in transfers view
• Fixed crash when saving core2.dat config file when there are transfers in rare error state and missing key components
• magnet link copy templates now handle correctly [hash2] tag on transfers that only have hash-ID v1
• new wildcard: matches prefix for individual tracking options in Settings > Transfers > Tracking
• Transfer preload window default enter key action now works correctly
• fixed issue with DHT Peer DB view shortcut ctrl-shift ZQZ that creates a transfer from the selected hash entry
• fixed issues with the Secure Local Resource Discovery channel, which allows peers to be on the local LAN
• minor improvements to channel list display, some column alignments changed
• many other minor GUI tweaks and fixes throughout the program
