How to Download Xcode Faster

Xcode is Apple’s primary working environment for developers producing apps and other assets for the Apple ecosystem. If it’s an iOS or iPadOS app, or software you can run on macOS, whoever created it probably used Xcode at some point during its creation.

Such a tool has its advantages but also its disadvantages. Part of that is its size, as it’s a heavy download spanning several gigabytes, which can easily stall a connection.

As a free download available to everyone and receiving regular updates from Apple itself, the amount of data involved is an issue. With a high number of users and developers downloading updates periodically, mostly on the day the update is released, large downloads can slow down.

This is not an Xcode-only issue, as many other resources made by Apple and available to developers may have similar issues. Downloading videos from WWDC presentations, for example, can be slow if lots of others are doing the same thing.

Going through the usual processes of acquiring Xcode and other development tools can be slow, but that can be fixed.

To fix the problem, Downloader for Apple Developers aims to provide much faster Xcode-related downloads than users typically experience.

In simple words, Downloader for Apple Developers is a particular tool for downloads which handles only Apple software and content. This includes Xcode itself, as well as other developer tools provided by Apple.

The downloader also handles videos produced by Apple itself, including WWDC talks, Tech Talks, and other videos.

There are some advantages to using Downloader for Apple Developers instead of the usual processes. For starters, downloads of tools and videos can be up to 16 times faster than normal.

The tool can also automatically resume Xcode downloads if it encounters a failure, so it will keep trying until it succeeds. Finally, it also manages and organizes multiple downloads at once.

Worked primarily by Vineet Choudhary, Downloader for Apple Developers is based on aria2, a utility used to download files that support segmented downloading. The program passes the download authentication token from the cookies and provides them to aria2 and other stuff to handle downloads.

While the mention of “segmented downloading” may conjure up the use of torrents, Downloader for Apple Developers fetches files directly from Apple instead of relying on distributed download methods. All files come from Apple’s servers only.

Install Downloader for Apple Developers. You can do this by opening Terminal and typing, or copying and pasting, the following command: curl -s https://xcdownloader.com/install.sh | to hit

• Open Developerand under Download Source, select Tools.
• Login to your Apple Developer Account.
• Open the Apple Developer Downloads page.
• Select the tools and files you want to download.

• Open Developerand under Download Source, select Videos.
• Navigate to the video you want to download.
• Under Resources, use the HD video Where SD video download links to trigger a download.
• Click on the file under Downloads to see the video and watch it.
